I neither know much about the DJs nor the label, though, this mix I've found at "Wax Poetics" website is so inspirational. OPTIMUS and MACE, aka OptiMace, are initiators of Dutch record label Fremdtunes and the mix reflects the flavor of the label, which is so soulful, funky and electronic, featuring the tracks by the artists like Luke Vibert, J Rocc, El-P, Beastie Boys, etc.

Following to "RIP GIL SCOTT-HERON" mix, here's another tribute mix to the legendary bluesologist, GIL SCOTT-HERON, who has passed away on 27th May at the age of 62. This one by GILLES PETERSON, the man formerly known as the A&R of the legendary Talkin' Loud label in 90s and now the man running Brownswood Recordings.

Simply good enough, actually so inspiring, as you would expect for GILLES' tribute mix for GIL SCOTT-HERON.

"Rawkus Records Tribute Mix" by DJ SEE [Mix]

Representing the fresh vibe of the 90s underground hip hop in NYC, Rawkus released so many classic tracks which still sounds fresh enough, such as MOS DEF, TALIB KWELI (also BLACK STAR), PHAROAHE MONCH, DJ HI-TEK, SIR MENELIK, COMMON, etc.

I don't know the details, though, I've found this mix by DJ SEE, featuring 30 Rawkus classics in the SoundCloud, which reminds us of the good, old days and also reminds us how fresh it still sounds. Enjoy the real hip hop.
